A Blog About What Inspires Me... A Blog to Share My Photographs And The Story Behind Them... I live in San Francisco, so I blog a lot about my lovely city. But, because I love traveling, I usually find myself visiting new towns, cities, and new countries!

California Surfers
Here's a sample of some of my favorite surfer photographs. I took all of these in California, a great surfing state!

The Beach in Lima, Peru
Next Tuesday I'll be in Lima, Peru. I'm going to be spending the holidays with my family and also celebrating my son's first birthday. I'm super excited about seeing my family and about the fact that we will be staying at a beach house for pretty much our entire visit! I'm really looking forward to the beach, the warmth, the beautifully vivid sunsets and the amazing food!
Here are some photos from the beach in Peru, mostly of sunsets. I will have a lot more when I return to California early next year!

Raindrops and Flowers
We are finally getting some rain. A big storm is supposed to hit the Bay Area this afternoon/evening and I couldn't be more excited about the possibility of putting an end to this drought!!

Morning at Ocean Beach, San Francisco
It's been raining in the Bay Area and we are all very happy! Taking advantage of a few dry hours in between a 3-day long rainstorm, we headed out to Ocean Beach early in the morning. The beach is such a peaceful place early in the morning. We saw birds; people walking, running and fishing, surfers and lovely colors in the sky signaling the beginning of a new day.

Big Sur Camping
This past weekend we went back to Big Sur to camp. This is the 5th year we've been camping there and this was our son's first time there, as well as his first time camping. He did great!
Because we've been there so many times, we know it well so we know what spots to hit, what hikes to do and where to go. Despite the familiarity, we are always amazing with how beautiful this part of the state is. Every one of our trips to Big Sur are filled with happiness and the best energy in the world. We often say that it is one of our favorite places in the entire world!

Karl the Fog
Starting a couple of days ago, San Francisco was taken over by Karl, the fog. Since then, every morning, the fog has been so dense, you could hardly see down the street. This morning, on my way up Mt. Davidson, the fog was particularly dramatic up in the Eucalyptus forest. Here are some photos I took. It was kind of magical to be up there, surrounded by fog with only the sounds of the birds and the trees!

Fall in Sonoma County
It is no secret that we don't really have a Fall season here in San Francisco so, in order to get the color, the sound of dry leaves being crunched under your feet, the cooler weather and the smell of Fall in the air, we headed inland to Sonoma county. Once in Sonoma, we drove downtown to get some amazing bread and coffee at the Basque Boulangerie Cafe and then decided to pick a road off the map and drive up it. We found Fall at the the end of a narrow and windy road. It was beautiful!

Hiking Up Mount Davidson in San Francisco
As it turns out, our new house is only 0.9 miles from the trailhead that goes up to the top of Mt. Davidson. From the trailhead to the top there is an additional climb of about 0.5 miles (according to the health app on my phone, the total climb is equivalent to going up 40 floors!). Well, as I realized that, I decided that would be the hike that would replace the walk to Lafayette Park I used to do when we lived up in Nob Hill. For the past couple of days, I have loaded my 27 lbs baby onto the Ergo carrier and up we've gone. He loves it and I do too. I joke that he was the reason I got out of shape and now he is helping me get back in shape by acting as an almost 30-pound pack!
Anyway, here are some photos I've taken on my way up. Most of these were taken with my phone because I don't really feel like adding the weight of my camera on top of that of my kid!
Hope you enjoy these photos. The walk is lovely. It goes up winding roads and secret narrow alleyways. Once of top, you get the most amazing panoramic view of San Francisco, the East Bay, the bay and even Mount Diablo! Just lovely! And, the fact that we leave before the sun rises, makes everything even more beautiful!

Fall Colors in Paris
San Francisco doesn't have much of a Fall. We are lucky if there happens to be a tree in the park or the neighborhood that will change colors in late October. Otherwise, if we want to enjoy the colors of the season, we need to drive East, mostly towards the Yosemite area where colors are stunning.
It doesn't look like we'll be able to make it to Yosemite this year. We are trying to sneak in a trip to Napa to see the vineyards, which are also supposed to change colors nicely. In the meantime, here are some photos I dug out from last year when I was in Paris enjoying the beauty of Fall and its colors!
